Fiat Chrysler confirmed that it is going to replace its Compass and Patriot with one car in near future.
“These two models will become one” – Director of the brand Jim Morrison said in an interview. Yet unnamed crossover, which currently applies to the project named «Compatriot», will take place between Cherokee and Renegade, two new brand tags in the Jeep lineup. The company has no problems with sales of Compass and Patriot, which even rose slightly to 16 and 23 percent respectively over the period 2013-2014, however their sending make up less than a quarter of all Jeep deliveries.

It is unclear whether the Italian FCA will add their resources to the new model, since it is likely that it will be created on the Alfa-Romeo platform, as well as Cherokee. Both models – Compass and Patriot, at the moment are based on the same platform, based on the Dodge Caliber, while the compact Renegade is closer to the Fiat 500X.
